It explains how apnea occurs and how it affects the health, safety and wellbeing of those who have it. It also discusses alternative treatments and how to tell if you might benefit from one of them.

You’ve heard how wonderful CPAP is and how it makes you feel like a new person. But have YOU had that experience?

Let me help you solve problems such as: Difficulty exhaling Pulling the mask off in your sleep Mouthbreathing Difficulty falling or staying asleep with CPAP Nasal congestion or "runny nose" on CPAP Waking suddenly with the CPAP Claustrophobia Condensation in the hose Stomach bloating on CPAP and others

I have almost twenty-five years experience in sleep disorders and their treatments, especially sleep apnea. Everyday, I deal with people’s problems with their CPAP machines and masks. I regularly conduct sleep disorders and CPAP support group meetings and an online support forum. I listen to the problems people face and the solutions they find. And I use a CPAP machine. Thanks to my job, I get to try every new mask and machine. This experience has translated into a notably higher CPAP usage rate among those who were tested in my lab and we ordered the CPAP versus those tested and treated in other, nearby, labs. In this book, I explain in everyday terms how sleep apnea occurs and how it affects your health and safety. I explain how CPAP works, why your doctor seems to prefer it and why it is so often the prescribed treatment, why it is sometimes very difficult to adapt to, and what you can do about it. This book will give you the information to solve many of your problems with your CPAP and help you talk with your doctor about how to solve the others.

There is a lot of free information available about sleep apnea and CPAP usage. Some of this information is useful and some is not. For the most part it is not inaccurate, but it is often incomplete or biased, more like an infomercial. This book gives an overview of sleep apnea and the therapies available. Other therapies are discussed, as well as how to know if you might benefit from one of them, but the focus of the book is on learning to live with CPAP. I do have one bias: CPAP will not work for you if you do not use it!

When you order the book, you will be given the opportunity to join the private, online support group conducted for those tested in one of my labs. You can opt out at any time.
